Miles WBB Outlasts Lady Yellow Jackets in Quarterfinals Matchup.

MORROW, GA — The 2026 season for the Allen University Lady Yellow Jackets came to a close Wednesday morning, but not without a fight.

In a tightly contested quarterfinal matchup of the SIAC Women’s Basketball Championship, the Miles College Golden Bears managed to hold off a late Allen push, securing a 68–63 victory in a game that showcased the Lady Yellow Jackets’ resilience from start to finish.

Miles wasted no time setting the tempo.

The Golden Bears exploded out of the gate with a scorching first quarter, knocking down shots from all over the floor and building an early cushion. Miles shot 10-of-24 from the field and an impressive 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, racing out to a 26–12 lead and forcing Allen to dig out of an early hole.

Allen regrouped in the second quarter and began tightening things up defensively while finding better rhythm on offense. The Lady Yellow Jackets outscored Miles 19–14 in the quarter, slowly chipping away at the deficit and heading into halftime trailing just 40–31.

Coming out of the locker room, Allen brought even more energy.

The Lady Yellow Jackets delivered their most efficient stretch of the afternoon in the third quarter, shooting an impressive 50 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range. Momentum began to swing as Allen continued to claw its way back into the contest, putting serious pressure on the Golden Bears.

Every time it looked like Allen might fully seize control, however, Miles found a way to respond.

The Golden Bears leaned heavily on attacking the basket and drawing fouls down the stretch. Miles finished the game 19-for-29 from the free-throw line, a critical factor that helped them maintain just enough separation to hold off Allen’s late rally.

Despite the tough loss, the Lady Yellow Jackets showed the grit, fight, and determination that defined their 2026 campaign. Battling back from a double-digit deficit in a championship environment speaks volumes about the culture and competitiveness of this Allen squad.

Miles will move on to play Clark Atlanta in the semifinals.
