Roswell Hornets Swarm Clarke Central 50–7 in Dominant 5A Second-Round Victory

ROSWELL, GA — The Hornets Nest was rocking Friday night as Roswell High School delivered a statement win in the 2nd Round of the GHSA 5A Playoffs, overwhelming the Clarke Central Gladiators 50–7 in front of a fired-up home crowd. From the opening kickoff, it was clear Roswell came locked in with one goal in mind: advance and dominate.

FAST START, TOTAL CONTROL

Roswell wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a 14–0 lead in the first quarter behind an explosive, balanced offensive attack. The Hornets kept their foot on the gas, pouring in 21 more unanswered points in the second quarter to take a commanding 35–0 lead into halftime.

By the break, the message was loud and clear: this one was all Hornets.

NO LETTING UP

The dominance continued into the second half as Roswell added 15 more points across the third and fourth quarters, stretching the lead even further and showcasing their depth on both sides of the ball. Clarke Central was able to punch in a late touchdown as time expired in the fourth quarter, but it did little to slow the Hornets’ march.

The Hornets’ offense was firing on all cylinders, led by an efficient and dynamic night from their quarterback.

RB Nick Peal

  • 106 rushing yards on just 8 carries

The ground game stayed strong with contributions from Dre Cousey and Dajuan Cousey.

WR Wills Campbell led the receiving corps with a huge night:

  • 115 receiving yards

  • 2 touchdowns

Chase Shaffer and Sean Smith each added a receiving touchdown to cap off a complete offensive performance.

With the win, Roswell advances to the next round of the 5A playoffs, where they’ll hit the road to take on the Sequoyah Chiefs in Canton, GA.
